Torture Nation: Enhancing the Move Toward Totalitarianism

Now that the government claims it offed Osama bin Laden – never mind a complete lack of evidence – it is time to elevate the brutal and medieval techniques the government said it used to break the case.

Darth Vader, aka Mr. Darkside Dick Cheney, former Justice Department official John Yoo – who said it is legal and permissible to crush the testicles of little boys to extract information – and Congress critter anti-jihad crusader Peter King from New York all said this week that “enhanced interrogation,” otherwise known as torture, is a vital element in the war against manufactured enemies.

Rep. King: Torture works.

Even Judicial Watch piled on. On May 4, it said documents recently obtained from the CIA through a FOIA request demonstrate the information gained by so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques” ultimately led to the purported – and now reported by the corporate media as truth – killing of Osama bin Laden. “These documents show that without ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’ Osama bin Laden might still be hiding in his compound plotting to kill more innocents,” writes Judicial Watch. Or he might still be resting in his Afghan grave, where he was reportedly buried in late 2001, according to an Egyptian newspaper.

Part of the fantasy narrative is that Osama was smoked out of his Pakistan mansion thanks to torture. “Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who’ve worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome,” Obama said in his victory speech. “The American people do not see their work, nor know their names. But tonight, they feel the satisfaction of their work and the result of their pursuit of justice.”

Let us praise tireless CIA waterboarders, even as the small fish like the chump Lynndie England and her cohorts were prosecuted, never mind they were following orders.

Let us thank various medieval practices – including strappado hanging, the rape of teenage boys, sexual assaults with acid-dipped phosphorescent tubes, and other reprehensible acts employed at Abu Ghraib and other torture chambers, all done, we are told, in our names because they hate us for our freedom.

On Wednesday, White House spokesman Jay Carney said enhanced interrogation techniques by “unbelievably competent professionals” helped lead the government to Osama bin Laden. Carney said Obama and crew will not rule out using torture again in the future. In fact, we can bet on it.

The unitary executive shall rein supreme.

Recall John Yoo telling us torturing children is permissible under the so-called unitary executive, a somewhat neutral term for dictatorship. Yoo’s boss at the time, George Bush the Lesser, invoked dictatorial powers no less than 103 times through so-called signing statements informing Congress he would disobey the Constitution, specifically Article I, Section 7. The now widely ignored passage states that the president has three choices – he can veto a law in its entirety, sign it, or do nothing. It is unconstitutional for the president to ignore or change legislation signed into law by Congress.

Bush also violated the Constitution and applicable federal law when he repeatedly authorized the National Security Agency to conduct electronic surveillance without a warrant.

Bush’s unitary executive, inherited by Obama, is nothing more than the ancient practice of a king with advisers. It is a recipe for dictatorship and totalitarianism — and more torture and endless war.

Previously, under our constitutional system, authority came from the people and was passed down to an elected Congress and the Supreme Court, then down to the president, whose job it is to execute the laws made by Congress in the name of the people. Our president is an executive who is supposed to make sure the will of the people reigns supreme. He is not a king.

On April 18, Steven Thomma, writing for McClatchy, lamented Obama’s rule and how it has become a mirror reflection of Bush’s rule. An illustration below reveals how Obama has embraced Bush and expanded the unitary fascist dictatorship of the president. It is fascist in the true sense, as defined by the originator of modern fascism, Benito Mussolini. Fascism, Mussolini explained, is corporatism plain and simple.

This is not coincidental. The plutocracy – the global elite, bankers, and transnational corporatists – have long planned a move away from the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It stands between them and total domination.

Our heritage of liberty and natural rights is in the process of being replaced by the iron-fisted rule of new technocratic kings, masters who envision a global dictatorship and a high-tech control grid under a one-world government.

The notion that the US was only aware of Bin Laden’s precise location for a matter of months before they executed their alleged raid of his compound in Pakistan is an insult to the truth, which is that the US knew the Al-Qaeda leader’s precise whereabouts before 9/11 and also protected him from capture on numerous occasions afterwards.

A year after the FBI had issued a global arrest warrant for Bin Laden following his alleged involvement in the 1998 Nairobi and Kenya embassy attacks, British tourists Alan and Cindy Thompson were traveling through Pakistan when they stopped off at a town called Zhob.

After driving for 11 hours on dirt roads they came to a checkpoint and were detained by armed Pakistani guards. The Thompsons later discovered that they were stopped because they had discovered the secret lair of Osama Bin Laden, before being told by American aid workers that the location had been visited by US consulate officers, British, Australian, and Swiss ambassadors, and that it was guarded by a team of US commandoes.

The aid workers also told them that they had been forced to move their offices because of a similar experience in Kandahar, where they ended up stationed right next door to Bin Laden.

After the couple were picked up by the British embassy they were invited to a garden party where all the British ambassadors and aid workers were bragging that they were stationed in the same area as bin Laden’s secret hideout.

The Thompsons tried to alert the FBI and Scotland Yard to the astounding information, but were completely ignored.

“We were gobsmacked,” said Cindy Thompson. “We found it incredible that we were offering to give first hand true information about the most wanted man in the world and the US embassy couldn’t even be bothered to get off their butts…it is about time that this story is told to the world to let the people know the truth…the hunt for bin Laden is a farce.”

The account was reported on at the time by Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper and the Thompsons later confirmed it to author Kenyon Gibson, who related the story in his book, Common Sense: A Study of the Bushes, the CIA and the Suspicions Regarding 9/11.

The account is important because it correlates with several instances where the U.S. had Bin Laden in their sights and deliberately ordered special forces soldiers to stand down or refused to launch air strikes.

In December 1998, Bin Laden was located in Kandahar but Bill Clinton refused to authorize military action.

In February 1999, Bin Laden stayed at a hunting camp in Afghanistan’s Helmand province for more than a week, but after US intelligence pinpointed the exact location, authorization for an assault never came.

US intelligence again located Bin Laden’s location in Kandahar in May 1999 but took no action.

According to the U.S. Senate, Bin Laden was “within the grasp” of the U.S. military in Afghanistan in December 2001, but that then-secretary of defense Rumsfeld refused to provide the soldiers necessary to capture him.

In January 2004, Lt. Col. Bryan Hilferty told the Associated Press that the US military was “sure” that they would catch Bin Laden that year, clearly indicating they knew his location.

In October 2004, the San Bernadino Sun reported that, “The Pentagon knows exactly where Osama bin Laden is hiding in Pakistan,” according to 9/11 Commission member John Lehman, who said that his capture was being delayed because there were too many Taliban fighters in the area.

  • A d v e r t i s e m e n t

“There is an American presence in the area, but we can’t just send in troops. If we did, we could have another Vietnam, and the United States cannot afford that right now,” said Lehman.

“Look,” he said, “Musharraf already has had three assassination attempts on his life. He is trying to comply, but he is surrounded by people who do not agree with him. This is not like Afghanistan, where there was no compliance, and we had to go in.”

“We’ll get (bin Laden) eventually, just not now,” concluded Lehman.

In 2006, a French documentary also claimed that French soldiers had Bin Laden in their sights on two occasions in 2003, but authorization to kill or capture the leader was not forthcoming from US authorities.

Colonel Hunt subsequently wrote an article for Fox News in which he stated, “We know, with a 70 percent level of certainty — which is huge in the world of intelligence — that in August of 2007, bin Laden was in a convoy headed south from Tora Bora. We had his butt, on camera, on satellite. We were listening to his conversations. We had the world’s best hunters/killers — Seal Team 6 — nearby. We had the world class Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) coordinating with the CIA and other agencies. We had unmanned drones overhead with missiles on their wings; we had the best Air Force on the planet, begging to drop one on the terrorist. We had him in our sights; we had done it. Nice job again guys — now, pull the damn trigger.”

“Unbelievably, and in my opinion, criminally, we did not kill Usama bin Laden.”

Democrat Rep. Maurice Hinchey later told MSNBC that the Bush administration deliberately allowed Bin Laden to get away in order to justify the attack on Iraq.

Despite the fact that US intelligence knew Bin Laden’s precise location in Pakistan more than a decade ago and deliberately failed to apprehend the terror leader on numerous occasions in the years since, Pakistan itself is now being targeted with threats for that very same reason.

Bin Laden was allegedly shot dead in his compound at Abbottabad, which is virtually a stone’s throw away from an important Pakistani military academy. President Barack Obama’s counterterrorism adviser John Brennan told NPR that it was “possible” that members of Pakistan’s military knew Bin Laden was hiding in the compound.

Pakistan’s ISI intelligence agency is tied at the hip with the CIA, to the extent where it is basically a branch of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Bin Laden’s shocked neighbors have told the media of their disbelief that Bin Laden or his aides could have lived in the town without being noticed. Indeed, one man who lived next door to the compound raided by US Navy SEALS told Al Jazeera that residents in the area carry documents because they are constantly asked to identify themselves by military forces.

Talking points centering around the notion that Pakistan knew all along that they were sheltering Bin Laden are likely the culmination of a blackmailing process and in retaliation to massive unrest in Pakistan over the US Predator drone strikes which have killed hundreds. Saudi Arabia is also being blackmailed in light of the contrived “Arab Spring,” which has been hijacked by globalist interests and is now being used as a threat to destabilize the Saudi Kingdom.

The globalists could quickly isolate Pakistan and make them the next target of the ‘war on terror’ by claiming they were in league with Osama Bin Laden, when in reality Bin Laden’s whereabouts were well known to US intelligence all along because he was their prize asset.

Alex Jones exposes the contrived “victory” in the War on Terror surrounding a man who many experts have said was already dead for years. After nearly a decade of “hunting” for Bin Laden, he is summarily shot in the head and allegedly dumped into the ocean (conveniently making the body unavailable). So goes the official life of Osama bin Laden (aka Tim Osman), one of the CIA’s most useful patsies and assets.

CNN and the corporate media report this evening that purported CIA asset Osama bin Laden has been killed by the U.S. military in a mansion outside the Pakistani capital of Islamabad along with other family members.

In an address to the nation, Obama said he ordered the strike that allegedly killed Osama. The remainder of his speech followed the standard war on terror propaganda script.

A small team of Americans killed bin Laden in a firefight at a compound in Pakistan, the president said in a dramatic late-night statement at the White House, the Associated Press reported following Obama’s address.

Obama said the military took custody of his remains. It remains to be seen if the government will attempt to provide evidence that the remains are indeed those of Osama bin Laden.

“The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done,” said former president Bush. In 2006, Bush admitted that capturing Osama was not a top priority.

In February, 2004, Iranian state radio claimed Osama bin Laden had been captured in Pakistan’s border region with Afghanistan “a long time ago.” Pentagon and Pakistani officials denied the report. “Osama bin Laden has been arrested a long time ago, but Bush is intending to use it for propaganda maneuvering in the presidential election,” the radio report said.

Osama bin Laden died of kidney failure soon after the September 11, 2001, attacks. In 2002, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said bin Laden had kidney disease, and that he had required a dialysis machine when he lived in Afghanistan. That same year, the FBI’s top counterterrorism official, Dale Watson, said, “I personally think he is probably not with us anymore.”

A Taliban leader told the Pakistan Observer on December 21, 2002, that Bin Laden was suffering from a serious lung complication and died in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief, according to Fox News.

Alex Jones was told live on the radio in 2002 by high-level Council on Foreign Relations members that Osama Bin Laden had died of kidney failure in early 2002.

“I have it from high level [sources] from inside the Bush administration…that bin Laden died of natural causes and that his family has given the body to the CIA, that they’re gonna roll him out right before the election, that he’s on ice right now. They will claim they killed him right before the election,” Alex said at the time.

“Jones gave a caution that the intelligence could be disinformation but claimed that his base in Austin was extremely close to the Bush administration and similar information received in the past had been credible,” Paul Joseph Watson wrote in August of 2002.

During the 2004 election, CNN reported that Democratic insiders had been told that George W. Bush was going to use the Bin Laden body as an ace-in-the-hole if he thought he was in danger of losing the 2004 election. This confirmed the evidence that Jones had been given by the CFR and others.

In 2003, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told Fox News Channel analyst Morton Kondracke she suspected Bush knew the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden and was waiting for the most politically expedient moment to announce his capture.

Benazir Bhutto, who was killed in a suicide attack at the end of 2007, stated that Osama bin Laden had been killed by Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a man convicted of kidnapping and killing journalist Daniel Pearl.

Obama’s announcement follows the release of a highly suspicious birth certificate last week. Both events represent psychological operations that possibly portend more significant events in the days ahead as the U.S. dollar continues to lose its reserve status, the economy fails to recover as promised, and wars expand in Libya, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

Obama’s propaganda stunt arrives as the Democrats kick off their leader’s presidential reelection bid against a number of Republicans contenders who have been highly critical of not only his perceived handling of the economy, but also his management of the manufactured war on terror.
